Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last updated 18 August 2026
The short version
On Future Disha, a client only pays a milestone once they've reviewed and approved it. That means most refund situations never come up in the first place — if work isn't ready or acceptable, the client simply doesn't pay for that milestone yet. This policy covers the cases where money has already changed hands and something still needs to be undone.
Before a milestone is paid
A client can request revisions, ask for changes, or decide not to approve a milestone at any point before paying it, at no charge. If a client and freelancer can't reach an agreement on a milestone that hasn't been paid, either party can cancel the job or raise a dispute — no money has moved, so there's nothing to refund.
Cancelling a job
A client or the hired freelancer can cancel an in-progress job. Any milestone that hasn't been approved and paid is simply frozen — nothing is owed on it. If a milestone has already been approved but not yet paid, it has to be paid or rejected before the job can be cancelled, so that side of the work is never left in limbo.
Automatically billed work (hourly and retainer)
Some invoices — hourly work billed at the end of a period, or a recurring retainer — are generated automatically based on logged time or a standing arrangement the freelancer and client already agreed to. These follow the same rule: they're only paid once the client pays the invoice, and a client can raise a dispute or contact Support about an invoice they believe is inaccurate before paying it.
If work was paid for but not delivered
If a milestone has already been paid and the client believes the freelancer didn't deliver the agreed work at all — not a disagreement over creative quality, but genuine non-performance — the client can raise a dispute on the job, or open a case at /support. Our team reviews the dispute. If it's resolved in the client's favor, we reverse that amount from the freelancer's platform earnings.
We want to be upfront about what that means in practice: Future Disha doesn't hold client funds in escrow, so a resolved dispute adjusts the freelancer's recorded earnings on the platform rather than issuing an independent cash refund to your original payment method. See Terms of Service, Section 7 for the full liability terms.
Disagreements about creative or subjective quality
A lot of work on Future Disha is creative or judgment-based, where two people can reasonably see the same result differently. That kind of disagreement isn't treated as non-delivery, and isn't something we refund on its own — it's exactly what milestone approval is for. Review the work, ask for revisions if the scope allows it, and only approve and pay once you're satisfied.
Platform fee
The platform fee is charged to freelancers, never to clients, so there's no platform fee for a client to have refunded.
